Outline

This DE programme on Mariology is organized in the following manner:

Unit One: .

Introduction and Overview:
Mary in the Teaching of  the Early Church
Mary in the Church Fathers

Unit Two.

Mary in the Medieval Period
Mary in the time of the  Reformation
Mary in the Post-Reformation Church

Unit Three.

Nineteenth Century Mariology
Pre-Vatican II Mariological questions.
Vatican II and Mary

Unit Four

Mariology in the Post-Vatican II period
Ongoing issues in Mariology.

Each unit within the programme consists of lecture or  series of lecture notes, additional readings, and bibliography. In addition, assignments or "quizzes" will be set which students of the course are free to complete AND to submit should they desire to do so. This is a general interest course, and as such, demands no formal coursework. However, if people want to have their work audited, that is fine.

Specifically framed for the  Sisters of the Little Company of Mary, their Associates and Affiliates, and run in conjunction with the Congregational Research Team's mandate to provide  ongoing educational opportunity for members of the Little Company of Mary, the  course provides a framework in which a systematic study of Mary and Mariological thought can be undertaken in either in conjunction with the CRC web and charism studies, or as a general interest pursuit.
