Aims

The aims and objectives of this on-line study of Mary and Mariology are:

AIMS:
To provide a background against which a future DE Program on Mary Potter and Mariology may be assessed.

To provide and integrated and  self-paced learning opportunity for LCM Sisters and/or their associates.

To provide information and textual materials for corporate and individual group interaction, discussion and learning.

OBJECTIVES:
At the end of this self-paced learning unit, individuals should be able to:
1. Identify  the major trends in mariological thought from the early Church to the  post-Vatican two era.
2. Identify the pressures and conflicts surrounding  emergent Mariologies across the centuries.
3. Understand the relationship between popular piety and Mariology
4. Have a critical awareness of the  development of Mariology in the nineteenth century
5. Identify the ways in  which mariological thought reflected and refracted the surrounding cultural and social milieu of the church in its various expression.
